critical thinking 101

Too often, students adopt a perspective that they think will please their teacher.  (After all, if you're not 100% confident in your knowledge, it doesn't hurt to suck up, right?)  There is a BIG problem with this.  Unless we develop critical thinking skills, and the will to use them, we wind up as sheep in a society with any number of wolves who will manipulate us to serve their interests without regard for ours.  (Maybe you've heard about the government shutdown.)
